Best Calgary Neighbourhoods for C-Train and Transit Access

Which Calgary neighbourhoods are best for transit and C-Train access? Census data and MLS listing analysis combined — the top communities for car-free or car-light living.

Calgary has a reputation as a car-dependent city, and for much of it, that's fair. But the C-Train network covers the major corridors well, and several communities have transit usage rates that rival mid-sized Canadian cities. For buyers who want to reduce or eliminate one car from the household budget, location relative to the C-Train is a financial decision worth taking seriously — a second car in Calgary costs $10-15K per year when you account for insurance, maintenance, and depreciation.

I combined two data sources: Statistics Canada 2021 Census transit usage rates (per dissemination area) and our MLS listing data showing how often agents specifically mention C-Train access in listing descriptions. Together they give a clear picture of where transit actually works for residents.
