Rocky Ridge is located in Calgary’s North west District. The area was annexed from the Municipal District of Rockyview in 1989. The community landscape preserves the wetlands, woods and a ridge that overlooks the Rocky Mountains. Environmentally sensitive wet ponds have been placed among houses and pathways. The Royal Oak ravine has been preserved and some of the wetlands have been concerted to stormwater facilities. There is also plenty of green space, an environmental reserve and a pathway system winds through the community and connects with the city’s pathway network.
